Quarter: Fall 2017

Professor Young is very passionate about this course so much that he literally wears different planetary ties at each lecture. The slides can be somewhat intimidating at first with all of the mathematical equations (only need to know the basics), but he posts them all to CCLE so you are able to look back over them.

To study for the midterm he gave us a study guide and the midterm was exactly the same as our study guide. Needless to say the average on the midterm was extremely high.

Overall, as long as you read the textbook and his powerpoint slides you will be fine in the class. I would recommend this course as a GE.

This class is pretty easy for your science GE. Professor Young is super passionate about the topic and the lectures are pretty interesting. His slides are a bit vague, so it's pretty important that you attend class in order to understand what the slide is actually talking about.
The weekly "homework" is insanely easy and my TA was great so whenever I was unsure about something, she was more than willing to help. (Go Danielle!)
The tests are also pretty easy. They're entirely multiple choice and he provided us study guides that pretty much told you about half of the exam and as long as you studied a bit for the rest, you'd be fine.
Good class!

I AM SELLING THE TEXTBOOK FOR $20 (BOUGHT USED FOR $60 ON AMAZON W/ HIGHLIGHTING). CONTACT ME BY EMAIL IF INTERESTED: *************

His tests are VERY detailed oriented. It is neccessary to attend lecture because his slides have little to no wording, only pictures.

This class covers everything you need to know about our solar system and its planets.
Definitely an easy GE. Dr. Young is incredibly knowledgable about the content. His lectures are sometimes hard to follow, but the midterm and final are both very comprehensive and based off of very general concepts. I loved how personable and available Dr. Young made himself to his students. He genuinely cares that his students learn the material. Great class

Professor Young is so passionate about astronomy and it definitely shows. His lectures are very interesting- he presents lots of pictures which really helped me to remember certain concepts.
Format of grading is:
35% final 35% midterm 30% discussion/partcipation (basically an A+ if you show up)
Dr. Young is very approachable and is willing to offer help whenever needed. Visit his office hours!!!! Also His class is relatively small (80 students), so it felt more intimate as opposed to some of the large astronomy lectures.
Very interesting and easy GE. 10/10 would recommend.
