Oh Frankel. He is definitely one of my favorite professors. He makes class fun, and I really enjoyed it. He mixes the class with a modern theme, which makes is very interesting. The topics that he asks you to write about are also very encouraging and easy to write about. He is absolutely very approachable and he will give you lots of feedback. He cares about his students and he is just great overall. I couldn't have asked for anyone better. You may also run into him at the gym, as he does work out there sometimes.

Professor Frankel is an amazing teacher, and he really cares about his students. He is incredibly intelligent (he literally knows almost everything and anything). The way he structures his class makes it very interesting and it is unusual compared to my previous English classes. He tries to make the subject (in class and for your papers) appealing to you, so you always look forward to going to class. He uses style and the fast-paced topic of imagery as the main theme throughout the class. He is no doubt an excellent choice for this class. Plus, he is very open and lenient. Don't be afraid to ask him questions because the more you interact with him or with one of the T.A.'s, the better your grade is most likely going to be.

Professor Frankel is by far the most caring professor I've had at UCLA. He makes the time, and encourages his students to visit his office hours during which he literally edits your essay for you. He's very smart and knows his stuff, but doesn't intimidate his students. He doesn't just give out A's to everybody, you have to work for it, but he knows and values good work when he sees it. Class consists of 4 essays and a quiz. He eliminated our quiz and added the 5% to one of our essay grades. The only professor I've had that lets students negotiate due dates and such! Definitely worth taking a class with him!!

Professor Frankel is awesome. He is super chill and likes to have conversations on current issues during class. He won't hand you an A, but as long as you go to his office hours he will pretty much edit everything in your paper for you. His grading is pretty lenient, he took away the grade for your worst essay in my class and I ended up with an A.

Professor Frankel is a really really great guy. He is truly concerned about his students and wants all of them to improve their writing. He is a very knowledgeable and I have mad respect for the dude. It will not be a hand-given A though, you will have to work for it and show him that you're really committed to improving your writing and to participating in the class. However, if you put in the right amount of effort (which is not too much to ask for) then he will give you what you deserve. We had 3 papers to write, the 1st one is worth 5%, the 2nd 10%, the 3rd like 75% and 5% going to a super easy grammar quiz. The structure may not always be like that though; I have a feeling he changes his class structure depending on his students. He is an incredibly flexible teacher; he even let me turn in my final paper two days later b/c he noticed I was behind on it when I met with him once to talk about it...I didn't even ask either, he just offered! He is very approachable and you can basically negotiate a grade with him if you believed you deserved it. Some may think he is boring but I always enjoyed his class and I doubt anyone, regardless of how boring they think he may be, can ever say they hate the man. He lets you basically choose your own topic and helps you develop from where YOU want to start. Got an A- but I am happy with it and I am definitely glad I took his class!

He is a great teacher, as well as a very knowledgeable person. It must be noted however that he is not in any way shape or form liberal on the A's. Any person taking his class will love it and will learn a lot, but don't take him for an easy A. On my final paper he stated there was nothing wrong with it at all in terms of continuity, and it was VERY well written and the arguments were solid and supremely cohesive. This commentary landed me a B on the paper, which turned out to be 75% of my grade. I definitely improved my writing by leaps and bounds after taking his class, however, I gained another level of cynicism for both north campus classes and the entire english composition program as a whole. Great guy though!!!
