I'll split this review into two parts the class and the professor:

The class: The class has a lot of work, she gives a lot of work that can sometimes be too much and feel unnecessary. Participation matters and your final is a final portfolio of your essays written throughout the class. There are also presentations and attendance is taken.

The Professor: Professor Dickey is a wonderful professor. She is very funny and is very forgiving/understanding with late work and sometimes deadlines. Her lectures can give you the inspiration to write essays and her feedback for your essays are very helpful. I really do not like English but Professor Dickey made the class fun and interesting.

If you are a good writer, do NOT expect an A in this class. I have never in my life gotten anything below a B+ on an essay, there are students in this class that don’t even know how to write complete sentences and received an A in this class. Receiving a C on an essay means that a piece of writing is average. I understand if an essay is genuinely average, but when I asked the professor why I received a C in the individual conference, she stated that my thesis was not well stated and there were a few grammatical errors here and there. In my own humble opinion, a few errors does not deserve a C, and if it does, then other students who do not write sentences that are legible or do not even cite their sources, even barely meet the page requirement, also receive a C. The professor has SEVERE favoritism and I don’t even know how it is possible to participate over 3 times a day and still receive a B in participation. In addition, she did not grade any assignments or give the official grade until past the 5 week mark of the NEXT quarter. Extremely unprofessional in favoritism and grading, does not accept tardiness, and does not explain mistakes made by the student.

Please choose a different professor for such an easy class, you do not deserve to bring your GPA down for an unimportant GE English class.
