This class was pretty stress-free. It composed of participation and three papers. There was no formal final exam; it was a written response in section (50 minutes) of week 9. I think the professor was funny and down-to-earth. My TA was great, and I ended with a very comfortable A+ without having to freak out week 10. I highly recommend this class, even if you aren't super into art history because it was an easy GE.
Amazing professor! His tests were very difficult and we had to memorize the date, the name, the material, the location, and the significance of every artwork we talked about in class. For both the midterm and the final, I ended up with around 80 artworks that I had to memorize. For the final, we additionally had a 5-page essay about a specific topic we covered in class. Professor Schneller was an amazing professor who was very helpful during office hours. His lectures were also super interesting, and you can tell he really cares about what he teaches. I would 100% take another class with him again in the future.
Really kind, funny and down to earth. Tests are manageable. though if you don’t study the slides and take notes you might find yourself unable to answer the questions on the exams. I’m already looking for what classes I can take with him in my next few quarters. The kindest and funniest professor I’ve had so far, and it’s his first year here at ucla!
