Mckenzie is a pretty chill guy. His lectures are coherent and understandable, and he is clarifying in his answers to questions. One time I didn't understand what he wrote on the board, so I went to ask about it after class. But there were so many people that the next class was starting before I could ask. Mckenzie still welcomed people to ask their questions to him outside 4000A, which I did, and got the answer I was looking for. His drawings of graphs are sometimes hard to make out, but his soothing South African accent makes his lectures flow into the ears of his students like the pouring of a creamy chocolate syrup into uhh.. I don't even know lmao. But like I said, he's a very chill and nice guy, and his class was pretty good, with no major roadblocks or super hard sections. I'd take it again.

Honestly couldn't have asked for a better math professor.

Dr Mckenzie is a great professor! He really takes time to explain every concept and gives a lot of examples to help us understand. Sometimes you may feel the pace is a bit slow but it is always helpful to listen to him and get a better understanding. The workload is really small, and the exams and not tough at all as most of the questions are similar to the hw and quiz questions he gives. Get Dr Mckenzie!

Dr. Mckenzie is the only professor who I would take the time to review on BruinWalk, because he was so clear and helpful during his lectures. His midterms were very fairly constructed, with no unnecessary tricks, and he is definitely a professor who values practical knowledge over trying to stratify everyone with a curve. I hope that anyone reading these reviews gets to have Dr. Mckenzie as a professor.

McKenzie is kind and friendly with a good sense of humor. He always welcomes questions in class and is usually able to answer them quite effectively. He also brings props to class occasionally like the Hungarian Gomboc to illustrate certain trickier concepts. Homework is optional, but his weekly quizzes are based on the homework. That said, they are pretty easy if you put in some time. His midterms and final are fairly straightforward provided that you show up to most lectures and do well on the weekly quizzes. All in all, McKenzie is one of the most chill professors at UCLA and I would strongly recommend taking his Math 32A.

Dr. McKenzie was a very good professor. Everyone I knew loved him. His lectures were super clear, and the tests were reasonable. The homework is super short, and he doesn't even collect it. The homework grades are from weekly quizzes, and the questions are on the homework. I recommend going through the textbook for each test, but as long as you pay attention and ask for help when you need it, it is easy to get a good grade and learn a lot in this class.

Mckenzie is a great professor to take this class with! Would definitely take another math class with him if it's offered. He's very nice, funny, explains topics very well during lecture, and always provides a good number of example problems for every concept that's covered. Lectures can be a little boring, but idk how anybody could make multivariable calc very interesting. He uses Piazza to communicate with his students, and he/his TA's are always very quick to respond on there to any questions that are posted. Homework is about an hour's worth of problems every week from a pdf he posts on Piazza (no textbook needed!)
Discussion was just a couple practice problems my TA made up for us to do, time for any questions about the homework, and a 10 minute quiz over 1 or 2 problems that came straight from the homework (quizzes account for 15% of your grade). Although HW isn't collected, the quiz coming straight from the hw makes it a good idea to always do it. Also, attendance/participation isn't taken into account for lecture or discussion, so I would usually show up 30 minutes late to discussion and just take the quiz and no one would care.
Midterms account for 22.5% of your grade each (although there's a grading option you can choose where only one midterm/the final are taken into account and both are weighted higher in case you do super badly on one midterm) Neither midterm was very difficult, and Mckenzie posted practice problems beforehand on Piazza for both midterms that were pretty much the exact same format as the questions on the midterms themselves. Final was worth 40% (or more if you choose the second grading method), and was about the same level of difficulty. If you're able to do all the homework problems and practice problems for the midterms on your own, you'll do fine.
All in all, Mckenzie and his TAs are great, and if you do all the homework and practice problems and understand them, you should be able to get a pretty good grade in the class.
