I took Professor Gaspar de Alba's Bilingual Writing class Winter 2010. I have to say that it was one of the best decisions I have made thus far in my undergraduate career. Though the class does require you to write a 50-page novella, Profe walks you through it, and keeps you on track with deadlines. Her workshops are so helpful because she reads critically and is truly constructive with her feedback. This class is not easy, however. It's a lot of hard work and trains you to use a part of the brain most of us have been neglecting since childhood. After completing this class I felt so much pride in my creation. Don't be worried if you're not fluent in Spanish or Chicano/a. I was not and I still really enjoyed the class. All in all, if you're interested in creative writing at all, do not hesitate to enroll in this course.
