Mr. Chapman is the bomb diggitay! Don't even think twice about taking this class...just do it! He's smart, entertaining (very funny), and I got to look at the finest people in that class every Monday and Friday! Oh yeah...and his class is beyond fair in terms of its difficulty. So take it.

THIS CLASS WAS SOOOO EASY. Do not read the book. Just study your notes, do your assignments early and have a TA proofread, learn your tapes, and go to the review and you will know all the answers before you enter the tests.

Professor Chapman is the best teacher I've taken so far at UCLA. His lectures are fun and interesting. The two hours really aren't that bad. He gives you a break at the hour. Mondays are lectures and Wednesday are performances which is a great way of experiencing what your learning. As long as you do the readings (which are pretty minimal) and go to the lectures, you're guaranteed a good grade. There are only two 1-2 page papers when you have to attend a concerts which aren't bad at all. His performance with his wife was the best part of the whole course. the songs they sing together are super cute. GREAT professor, really knows his stuff. TAKE HIM! it's the best humanities you could take here. if you gotta take those GE's anyway, you might as well take a good one and this would be it.

Chapman is such a cool guy! He's entertaining, you know he's passionate about what he does, and the class is never the same boring thing. He lets us have concerts in class to break up the note taking and he's just so nice. His homepage is impressive when you look at all that he's done and the parts of his son are so cute. He doesn't seem like a stuffy UCLA professor, but more like some normal guy who could be like your dad. The exams are easy and just go to class because some questions are just to see if you went. There's minimal reading and some listening too. This is a breath of fresh air when you have 3 other really hard classes with professors who just babble on about boring stuff. I learned a lot about music and composers; more than I expected to. The T.A.'s are really cool and young too. Take this class if you have the chance!

Professor Chapman is one of the greatest I've experienced so far. His lectures are entertaining, and I learned at the same time. I was highly motivated to go to class. It's not like I would have all fun and not learn a thing, but I did learn (and that's the important part, right? =P ). The live performances were entertaining as well as informational. I may be biased because I loved music already, but I thought his course enhanced my music appreciation even more. I learned how to describe the music I listen to with music vocabulary. The tests are not hard if you listen in class, and you do the assigned listening & reading because he doesn't want you to fail, he just wants you to appreciate music. His grading is great, he'll boost you up if you're on the border grade, too. You should enroll in Music 15 with Chapman because it was well worth my time, and hopefully, it will be well worth yours, too.
