Description: Lecture, three hours. Designed for graduate students. Introduction to foodways, with particular attention to customs and symbolism in America. Topics include sensory realm, child rearing practices, foodsharing, food and identity, food and its emotional significance, aversions and taboos, advertising, changing food habits, and American diet. Concurrently scheduled with course C129. S/U or letter grading.
