Description: Seminar, one hour. Exploration of intersectionality between Eastern and Western philosophies surrounding self-realization. Analysis of poets, psychologists, and spiritualists who have influenced collective consciousness in regard to self hood. Participation in and exploration of exercises that have been used to encounter self in both Eastern and Western cultural rituals. Due to intercultural and anthropological nature of materials, students encouraged to understand concepts such as cultural appropriation and New Age thinking. Participation in dialogue and classroom activities that explore these methodologies and discourses through discussion and practice. P/NP grading. Facilitated by Arami Walker, with Victoria E. Marks as faculty mentor.
