Fall 2023 - This was a horrible class. I do not recommend. The lectures were disorganized and unhelpful. The professor was quite rude, even making fun of students at times. The assignments are structured in a way that sets students up for failure. If you want add a heaping dose of stress to your life, then this is the class for you!

Spring 2025 - This class was very boring. The subject material is quite dense and research-heavy, so if you do not enjoy reading research papers on political psychology, I would avoid this class. Additionally, Perez is not the best lecturer, presenting in more of a meandering lecture style. What he presents in two classes, the TA's present better in one class. However, it is not impossible to get an A in the class. Perez gave up to 3% extra credit (meaning a 90% could turn into a 93%). Your grade is based on the following: Attendance 10% (section) Quizzes 20% (completed during section) Short papers 40% (20% each) Final exam 30% Attendance is earned by showing up to section, the quizzes (given every 2-3 weeks) can be challenging so make sure to do the readings, the papers are manageable although the prompts can be unclear, and the final was a take home paper where we had 12 hours to answer 2 questions. The first was more general and we had to answer it in 2-3 pages while the second was more specific and we had to answer it in 1-2 pages. Overall, this class isn't too difficult but it is fairly boring. I will say that if you want to get involved in research, you should take this class as Perez is known for being a professor you can somewhat easily do research with.

Fall 2017 - I would never take a class with Sears again. He is extremely nice and offers help to anyone seeking it out, but the class is extremely difficult to the point that you lose motivation half-way through the quarter. Both his midterm and final have an insane curve, and thats because his exams are ridiculous. I feel like this professor has high expectations of his students, but these expectations are quite absurd. The only reason I chose this class was because it sounded interesting. Since this is my first quarter at UCLA, I had no idea about BruinWalk before choosing this class. Now I know to never let something like this happen again. This class has ruined my quarter and I feel like I am walking out of the class not learning anything.
