Principles and Practices in Medical Genetics 2

Description: Lecture, three hours. Limited to Genetic Counseling students, and open to medical genetics, molecular and cytogenetics fellows with permission. Second course in three-course series. Focus on medical approaches to clinical genetics. Topics include cancer genetics, principles of mathematical and population genetics, multifactorial inheritance, risk assessment, teratology and dysmorphology. Addresses application of medical and genetic information to genetic counseling. Includes lectures, problem-based learning scenarios, examinations, and written reflections. Grand Rounds/Seminar series attendance is required component. Letter grading.
