Isotope Geochemistry

Description: Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour. Designed for junior/senior and graduate physical and biological sciences students. Theoretical aspects of isotope behavior: stable and radiogenic isotopes. Principles of geochronology. Use of isotopes as tracers in crust and mantle processes. Stable isotopes as indicators of environment and paleoclimate. Concurrently scheduled with course C109. Additional literature survey, that may result in class presentation, expected of graduate students. S/U or letter grading.
