Description: Lecture, two hours. Requisites: courses 200A, 200B, and 200C (or 100), Biostatistics 100A. Biologic, quantitative, philosophical, and administrative considerations in epidemiologic cancer research. Hypothesis specification and choice of study design. Uses of descriptive epidemiology, cohort studies, case control studies. Clustering, screening, and cancer control. Means of identifying subjects and controls. Design of instruments. Sources of bias and confounding. S/U or letter grading.
