Description: Lecture, four hours; discussion, one hour (when scheduled). Enforced requisites: courses 10A, 10B, 10C. Recommended: courses 120, 121. Spring 2025 - Hyde is a really engaging and pleasant professor, and clearly has a lot of knowledge and insights into the readings. I really enjoyed a lot of the readings, and always felt that her feedback on my writing was productive. Her lectures could get a bit dense and sophisticated though, which sometimes made understanding the material difficult. Also, I kind of felt at times like she focused so much on the small details of the course that the bigger picture was obscured. The theme of our class was "literature and personhood," which is incredibly interesting. But I often didn't really feel like I had a cohesive understanding of how our different readings informed the central idea of the course. It's a case of missing the forest for the trees, I suppose.
