Spring 2022 - Leslie is a fantastic teacher, and her comments were constructive in improving my essays. However, the first half of the class was packed with reading reflections due in every single class, and you were expected to finish the essay draft within two nights, which I thought was challenging. There were three writing projects for the course, based on nine readings. You would pick at least one reading to answer the prompt and support your arguments. Each project had two drafts to be submitted, and you would have a conference with her and use her suggestions to edit your essay. The last and the most significant portion of your grade would come from revising two writing projects from your selection. So, the last one-third of the class was quite laid back which I found nice after a tiring academic year. Along the way, you would learn how to construct and organize your arguments, revise your writing mechanics, and improve your writing skills. In addition, I found some tools that helped me write that I would use for future essays, such as a collocation dictionary (Ozdic) or other tips. Overall, it was a good class, and I recommend taking it with her. The tips are don't be afraid to speak up in the class and carefully take notes of her suggestions on your essays.

Winter 2023 - I would avoid this class. Her policies for attendance are ridiculous. If you are absent your grade gets marked down by half of a grade and 2 targets equal one absent. Harsh but even if you are there, she will give you an absence for not doing the homework or not doing it up to her standards. Now that is unfair! Most people in the class got an absence for not annotating enough in her opinion. The class is graded like this 75% is two essays and the other 25 %. is participation. This is how the participation is graded according to the syllabus “To get an “A” in participation, you must do more than is required. Therefore, simply being present, responding when called upon, actively participating in class and small group discussions, turning in all assignments on time, and coming to all conferences fully prepared and on time are not above and beyond elements of participation. Rather, those who earn an “A” in participation do all of this thoughtfully and deliberately, just as they do in writing.” you don't get any feedback on your participation grade, it seems very subjective. I felt like we had a lot of time to do the first one she assigned the prompt around week 3 but for the second she assigned it around week 8 and when people were asking if they would have zoom office hours she was telling them we had all quarter ???? like how the hell is 2 weeks all quarter? For homework, annotations are called they say I say and another is one she wrote called on your perspective. The class is 2 hours, with no breaks, very passive-aggressive wouldn't take this class unless you have two. She does have a required meeting where she goes over your essay and gives it a little Pregrađe and gives advice so you can fix it up before you turn in final essays.

Fall 2016 - This review is actually for ENG CCOMP 2 which I took with professor Galvin. Her classes are boring and unengaging. Though I must say that the topics discussed in class are actually rather interesting. Professor Galvin has this special ability to lag, like a computer under a virus-attack. She possesses only one type of hear and it is slow, slow slow. Her processing is so slow and as a result, she mumbles unclear information in fragments and pieces, which makes the ambiguous information being presented even more confusing for us. Members of the class always have to whisper among ourselves to piece together the disintegrated information we may have, but that does not seem to work as well. Her classes are slow paced but relaxing. Though I cannot say I enjoyed this class, the class was reasonably easy and Professor is fair on work set.
