Education for Social Justice: Students, Communities, and Teachers Challenging Inequity in U.S. K-12 Schools

Description: Seminar, three hours. Enforced requisite: satisfaction of Entry-Level Writing requirement. Freshmen/sophomores preferred. Examination of theoretical, pedagogical, and grassroots organizing perspectives on education for social justice, learning from youth, community members, and teachers about working toward justice within and outside classrooms. Students co-create class community, gain writing and research skills, and explore scholar-activism. Letter grading.
