Description: Lecture, three hours. Recent theoretical and empirical research on monetary policy. Includes issues such as how monetary policy is implemented in practice. What are effects of different monetary policy tools, what restrictions on government does monetary policy impose, transmission mechanisms of monetary policy, welfare costs of inflation, how does monetary policy interact with credit markets and how does it affect asset prices. S/U or letter grading.
