Fall 2018 - Claudia is very clear about her expectations for the class and what she expects from students; her advice during lecture is great in that she is very upfront about common mistakes people make while coding, as well as how the inner workings of the compiler are when reading the code. Would take again for Pic 10B.

Fall 2019 - There's always a risk taking a professor without any reviews on Bruinwalk. Let me be the first to say that Hyde is an EXCELLENT professor and DEFINITELY worth your time. Every time I went to lecture, I felt that I understood the material very well, despite having no previous programming experience. HW assignments were very clear, appropriate - not to long/short, not to hard/easy. During office hours, Hyde was very approachable, and would answer even the silliest questions. Midterms were pretty easy (for me at least) and Hyde applies a GENEROUS curve. In conclusion, I think I learned a lot from this class. Hyde has a knack for teaching and I hope UCLA keeps him around.

Fall 2023 - Fucking bullshit class. Literally everything the previous review said. It's that terrible. It's unbelievable that he gave us a homework set that was literally meant for higher level courses. That final. That fucking final was disgusting. 18 questions of just pure bullshit that none of us could realistically have figured out. Take literally anyone else

Fall 2023 - I honestly felt that she was very dismissive. I felt very unsupported by her and my TA. I felt like I was treated as if I should have already known the material... except I thought this class was for people that have never coded before? Of course after lecture I would understand the concepts, but when it came to applying them to the homework, I often thought I needed a push or at least a similar example. When I would reach out, she would say to come to her in person instead of messaging her. However, there are only so many times I can call off from work or ask to switch shifts. When I would message her she would leave me on read for hours only to tell me again to go to office hours. Little did she know I was only able to attend my TA's office hours for the first few times.
