Fall 2023 - Drop everything and enroll in this class when it's offered! This class taught me so much more than I could have imagined about the field of Armenian music. We covered not only the famous characters in history, but also delved significantly into the lesser-known names that make Armenian music what it is today. The professor also brought guest speakers to change up the pace (including a DJ, dancer, etc.), so lectures were never dull. Readings were also interesting and not superfluous, and we were not expected to purchase anything. The course itself consisted of a few papers and a presentation, which were all-around a positive experience. Professor Bilal truly goes above and beyond to support her students, both in the course and outside of it, making her perhaps my favorite professor on campus. I highly recommend taking her courses, especially the Intro to Armenian music.
