For those who do not want to read everything I wrote, the summary is that I enjoyed my 2 years in the apartment due to its location, accommodations, and landlord/manager.

Location:
For those who do not know where the apartment is in relation to the campus, it is a little south of the dorms, which means you still can get to the Bruin Bear in about 10 minutes. Unlike the dorms, the apartment is closer to the STEM buildings (south campus). This was more convenient for me since I was a STEM major. Of course, being closer to south campus means it takes a few more minutes to walk to north campus, but overall, it is very similar to walking from the dorms. (De Neve does not count to me because most dorms are further uphill and away from campus.) As for regular shopping, Ralphs, Target, and Trader Joe's are all about a 15 minute walk from the apartment. As a result, I generally did two shopping trips a week since it was a similar distance as walking to campus. Since the apartment is about a block from Gayley Ave., there is some car noise. What is more unpredictable is construction, which comes with living in Los Angeles, and the nearby fraternities. Personally, I did not mind the music when the fraternities had parties because I am pretty load myself. In contrast, the apartment is generally quite because residents can file noise complaints to the landlord/manager.

Accommodations:
For a 1 bedroom-1 bathroom apartment with a kitchen that had a stove, oven, dishwasher, and plenty of counter space, I felt that the rent was reasonable given the location. Internet and utilities each month was an additional 70-80 dollars. Even with two roommates who regularly brought friends over, I felt the apartment was quite spacious. Full maintenance is done whenever a resident leaves, and work orders were fulfilled within a few days in possible. The apartment does not have air conditioning, but has a heater, which we never used. Using a few fans made the heat bearable, so make sure you have some. The lobby and pool are pretty nice and benefit from the copious amount of plants that give the apartment a refreshing feel when compared to the grey of Los Angeles. Mail and packages can be picked up in the lobby, and the landlord/manager tries to contract resident when packages arrive.

Landlord/manager:
Your Question: Why is there a section for the landlord/manager?
My Answer: Because he is an incredibly friendly guy who deserves his own section.
Work orders, noise complaints, rent, and other matters relating to the apartment go to the landlord/manager, so it advisable to be on good terms with him. Fortunately, he is a great guy who tries to know the residents and chat with them if they are in the lobby. In addition, he encourages residents to get to know each other by means of an introduction. There is also a referral incentive in that if you get someone you know to rent an apartment in the building, you will get 50 dollars. It is a nice bonus on top of having friends close for easy (and wholesome) get togethers. All in all, you should not treat the landlord/manager like a stranger and at least say "Hi" back. Saying "Goodbye" when you move out also does not hurt.

Loved living here. Especially for the Westwood college area, the rent is very affordable for the kind of apartment you get. The landlord is very kind and understanding, and will always do his best to solve your apartment problems. He is also very concerned about the safely of his tenants and does not make anything unnecessarily hard for them. The lobby and outside of the apartment is always well-mantained and pretty. A nicely sized pool that does not get too busy. Very close to campus and decently close to Westwood village. If I ever needed to live in the Westwood area again, I would not hesitate to try to live here. My only regret is that I did not buy a beer for the building manager. - Jason

I lived here for the past year and it was a great living experience and would highly recommend for those looking for an affordable place to live. The location is great for walking to classes/going into Westwood, the building is well kept, and the landlord is amazing!!! If I could do it again, I wish I would've found this apartment building for my first off-campus apartment.

I lived here from 2019-2021 and had a great experience! It's in a great location. I had no trouble getting to campus or Westwood Village. The building itself is nice with lots of foliage and is extremely secure. As a female resident, security is one of my top priorities. There was never a point in which I felt unsafe or uncomfortable living here. While I lived here, I had three keys, one for the garage, another for the complex, and a third for my unit. The landlord, Danny, is the best! He is friendly, communicative, and helpful. If you have any problems or needs, he makes it a point to address them quickly. I highly recommend living here!

I lived at this apartment complex for 2 years and I loved every minute of it. I loved that it was so close to campus. I always felt safe because I knew that this apartment building was secure and tenants were always conscious in ensuring that doors were always locked. Any maintenance problems that I ever had was fixed almost immediately. The lobby, parking structure, the pool and the laundry rooms were always maintained and cleaned. I would highly recommend living here!

One of the only apartments in Westwood that does not have a shady manager. Danny (the manager) is super friendly, prompt on maintenance, and really cares about tenants and security. This is one of the few places in the area you don’t have to worry about getting scammed out of your deposits. The rooms, laundry room, parking structure, lobby are all clean and well maintained. Would absolutely live here again and wish I would have found it sooner.

Lived here from 2020-2021 and had an amazing experience in a studio including a gated non-tandem parking spot and my own private spacious patio! As a female resident, security was one of my top priorities and I never felt uncomfortable or worried living here. The building itself is very secure, residents always close the doors, ensuring they're locked. Maintenance is also super easy and my issues usually get fixed within a day or two. LOCATION! Although school wasn't in person, I had no trouble getting to campus for Ashe, the gym, etc. This would be the perfect location when things are in person again. The price is great for the location, amenities, parking spot, etc. Lastly, Danny! He has been an amazing landlord, super communicative, friendly, and helpful in the whole entire renting process. Highly recommend living here!

It was a great experience. Danny was a great landlord who made living here a real pleasure. He was super attentive to all the needs of the building and apartment. The apartment itself was also really great and came with a ton of nice furniture and appliances. I would highly recommend living here! If I could stay here I would.

I lived in Strathmore Towers for a year and I love it very much. There are several reasons why I like it. First, our manager Danny is very nice, he can remember every one of us, our name, our apartment No., our home country, etc. He responds to our requests very efficiently to ensure we have a good living condition. He always notifies our package's arrival, and I never lost any packages after I moved to Strathmore Towers. He not only takes care of us but is also a genuine friend who loves joking and casual chatting using our home language (Danny a definitely genius in language learning lol). Second, I love my apartment. The studio is cost-effective, private, and spacious. The window and balcony are large, and I always eat on the balcony. It is truly enjoyable sitting on the balcony with the breeze blowing across my body after a busy working day. Third, I have a very good friend living in another apartment in Strathmore Towers. We always coming back from the lab together, cooking and eating together, and it makes life peaceful and enjoyable. So having a friend who also lives here would be suggested and definitely make your life better. Other reasons including the beautiful flowers in the yard, the large swimming pool, the clean environment, and the close distance to school also make this apartment the best near UCLA. I am glad and thankful that I chose this apartment.
