Spring 2021 - This is a very theoretical and not very practical class. The course focuses on how to derive the stiffness properties for a composite layup for a plate or beam, static solutions, and some vibration theory. There is zero discussion of failure modes, manufacturing methods, or different types of materials and weaves, etc. I see this only as useful if you want to go on to do analytical research in a PhD or something.... not at all really useful for someone working in industry. The professor is relatively clear, but like I said, the material is all theoretical derivations and to me, not that interesting or engaging. The one benefit of the course in my mind is that the workload is light (weekly homeworks only take a couple hours) and pretty easy.
