He is a very good teacher. All that is said about him is true. He is nice and funny, and lectures are really interesting. This is probably one of the classes that you will actually learn something that is useful in life, and you won't probably regret puting time to it. However, CAUTION, tests aren't easy. You have to study the book and know the material in and out. Just going to lecture and reading lecture notes wouldn't do. Make sure that you won't get fooled by his easy going style, and interesting material. You have to study for this class.
Professor Davies is by far the BEST professor I have had in my four year career at UCLA. He really cares about student learning and is the most engaging lecturer. He is hilarious and provides so many examples in class that students can relate to. The class material is super interesting, but Davies makes it so entertaining you WANT to go to class and are really sad when it is over. The class itself was not on a curve, but there were two non-cumulative midterms, both of which were really fair. He offers extra credit as well, and discussions were a breeze. To conclude, I wish Davies could have taught all of my psych classes!
what can I say...this teacher is just hilarious in every single lecture!!! if you take him...don't eat too much before you go to the class, cause you'll laugh until your stomach hurts.....
besides his unique humor style, he is more than willing to help out students outside of the class, if you go to the office hour before the exam you'll get a lot info.!! and also he doesn't curve,,for some people it can be a bad thing, but I seriously think it's fair enough and I'm happy with it (it makes the class more willing to help each other too!)
Dr. Davies, or Paul as he prefers to be called, is the best teacher I, as a transfer student, have had at my two years at UCLA, and probably the best teacher I have ever had, at any school. His Lectures are nothing shy of genius, as he makes the concepts that he teaches effortlessly entertaining, easily understandable, and quite memoriable. His tests are totally fair, he gives you an extra credit option, and discussions, (at least with Josh,) were cool too. You have to go to class because he doesnt post the lecture notes, but trust me, YOU WILL WANT TO GO TO CLASS. I know, it seemed impossible to me too, but I swear, he keeps almost the whole class iether laughing or on the edge of their seats throughout the lecture. Dr. Davies turns allready interesting material into super cool material. Not only is Davies a superb Professor, but his research is also really interesting. He studies social identity threat from the targets perspective and the cognitive and motivational factors underlying stereotype activation and application. This class has made me seriously consider graduate school in social psychology, which is something I never would have considered before. No joke.
