I would suggest to NEVER take this person, he does not even deserve the title of professor! He often got mad at students for disagreeing with him, he lies about the work you have to do, he does not answer emails back, he never grades anything. He verbally assaulted me in front of the entire class and told me to get out or he will call security because I missed a phone call from him. I had to file an investigation against this guy. Seriously, avoid him. He is crazy and because of the investigation I did not get graded fairly and ended up with the only "C" on my transcript. Because of him I wish I never went to this school.

I've seen other reviews of Professor Sanchez that comment on the fact that this class is not an easy A, and that students have to work hard instead of skate by. This was not my issue with Professor Sanchez, as English classes are generally writing heavy and definitely reading heavy. My problem with his teach method was that despite quizzes every class, a presentation, and a final essay, I did not receive a single grade from him, and only received some feedback on my rough draft of my final essay. The only grade I received for any of my work was the final grade reported to my transcript. This was the first class I took at UCLA and it honestly set a really bad tone for my experience, especially as I was a transfer student who had experienced professors who took their time to throughly look over, grade, and give feedback for all work that was turned in. On top of this, he was frequently late (even though he was strict about students being on time) and was not very willing to listen of interpretations of a text that did not mirror his own. I came into UCLA very interested in British Romanticism, and I am leaving turned off of the subject entirely because of Professor Sanchez.

This class was by far one of the worst classes I've ever taken at UCLA in the English Department. Professor Sanchez's lectures are poorly organized and not engaging what so ever. Every time I got to class, I couldn't wait to leave.

If you like a class where the professor just reads from the book you're learning from and asks occasional questions from time to time about it then maybe this is the class for you. He gave us quizzes every single class meeting and never remembered what he quizzed us on, which was unprofessional and made every student question how we were getting graded.

He's horrible at answering emails. Even though in class, he'll say you can always email him for help, this is a straight up lie. He makes it incredibly difficult to communicate with him throughout the quarter. So if you're sick or have any question good luck...

He's also incredibly unprofessional. He handed back every paper I wrote like it had been crinkled up in a ball in the bottom of his bag. He literally unfolded and flattened out the paper on his desk before he handed it to me. This really shows he doesn't give a shit so why would you as a student care about his class at all. The books we read were so boring and his lectures did not expand on anything. I basically wasted an entire quarter taking this class where I didn't learn one thing.

Do yourself a favor and never take this class or any class from this professor.
