Really easy class he releases the midterm questions ahead of time and there was no final just a research paper. Text me if you'd like to buy the books for cheap **********
Cute little man teaching what he is passionate about. Even though I did not go to most of the lectures I did relatively well. For the midterm he releases 5 prompts in which 2 are chosen for the actually midterm. The final is just a paper. Definitely an easy GE which I would recommend.
He is a good lecturer but his lectures aren't very engaging. He just starts talking, keeps talking, then ends 75 minutes later without any inflections, emphasis, change in intonation and as a result it's hard to get the main points and a good sense of what is important cause every sentence that comes out of his mouth is equally important. TAs are freecking wonderful and help give you an idea of how to do well in the class and they grade very leniently. Take a chill pill and you will do fine.
Easy GE! Not time consuming and even somewhat interesting!
Professor Pohl is a great teacher. This class did not involve T.A.s which I was happy for. Pohl gave great lectures and you can tell he is passionate about Mixteca history and culture, and knows his stuff! I went to his office hours and he was open-minded and did not treat me like some other professors do at UCLA. He was unpretentious, fun to talk to, and still curious to hearing opinions that differ from his own. In fact, he embraces this. The class involved one presentation and one 10-15 page final paper. His class structure is not so rigid, he is not uptight about lateness, but this class was so small and I enjoyed it so much, I was only late one or twice. Overall, I suggest taking him, he was the BEST art history teacher I have taken out of the 3 others I had classes with. I was sad to only have had one class with him, he is not on campus much so if he is teaching a class take it while you can!
