I am writing this review specifically for Class EE 230B (Digital Communications), not EE 3 but because professor name did not show up when choosing EE 230B.
Anyway, EE 230B is graduate class and I took his class online. just to be fair, I am not very familiar with all professors in EE department at UCLA since I was doing MS online. However, based on my experience, I can say that professor Pottie is one of the worst professors at EE department. Honestly, I don't even know what he is doing in EE department in such a great school like UCLA, and who did even hire him. He is extremely bad, and his lecture sucks. His slides are very brief with several mistakes and he covers a lot of material in EE 230B with very poor explanation and the problem is that his tests are very hard which does not make sense. So simply avoid him and don't even bother taking his class. I think he should be sent back to Canada rather than keeping him at UCLA which is really not fair. I am sure there is a lot of people who deserve to be in his position. I just can't imagine who did hire him to be professor at UCLA.
by the way, I passed his class with fair grade.
AVOID HIM

He really sucks. His lectures consist of him copying the useless slides he posts on courseweb.

Homeworks are poorly written and filled with mistakes.

His formulas are incredibly sloppy, making it very difficult to follow what he is doing.

The material in the class is not difficult, it is just hard to learn anything from this professor in particular.
