Things have changed a bit since the last reviewer posted about this class. There is one HW assignment per week and a quiz every other Friday. The quizzes are pretty nice since they are each restricted to the material that was covered in the two weeks leading up to it. There is no midterm, so having the quizzes can take away from the 6th week stress that you'll be getting from your other classes. I'm not sure if he's going to keep this policy, but for our class, he promised to drop the lowest quiz score (out of 4). They grade the quizzes pretty leniently, and they are each 50 minutes long. The final was actually pretty easy, so just make sure you know your basics.
The course reader SUCKS. There is no required textbook for this class, and if the reader is your only source of information, you're screwed. Don't make the same mistake I did and let someone borrow your CEE 108 textbook, because it would probably have come in very handy for this class. You do a lot of the same material but in a bit more detail and slightly more complicated (though not by much). He has decent powerpoints, but it helps a lot to go to class and watch him go through it rather than just downloading and reading them on your own later. It will just look like a lot of crap on your screen if you don't see the animations/process of getting each step. You do not need a notebook for this class. I bought one and used about 2 pages of it. Just take your course reader to class and live by the examples in it. If you need explanations, you're shit outta luck unless you go to office hours or something. Even if you feel lost though, you'll get decent scores on the things you turn in, so don't freak out too much.

This class seemed really hard at first but it ended up being okay. When studying for the midterms and finals, DEFINITELY do the practice exams (the concepts & questions are very similar) and go through his powerpoints--know all the material covered in them. It's not too hard because you can write everything on a cheat sheet. Homework is pretty time-consuming because you're using Matlab, but it gets easier because sometimes they provide you with codes. I stopped going to lecture, studied on my own, and got an A-. And he's a really nice guy so it's challenging but you learn a lot! Def recommend him.

He gives 2 HW assignments a week and a quiz every Friday. There is no midterm, the quizzes make up 40% of the grade and are worth more as the weeks pass. The homework is only worth 10% but students are required to turn in every assignment to pass the class. Either way, if you don't do the homework you will fail the quizzes so in the end you will learn the material whether you like it or not. He is a decent teacher, but unfortunately there was not much material to work with since the only resource available was a small course-reader with multiple recurring typos. Doing the homework was astonishingly time-consuming; doing it alone and comprehending it was nearly impossible.
The first couple of weeks of this course is purely statics, so if you're one of the people who fell through the catalogue loop-hole and wasn't required to take a statics course, be very careful because you might get boned.
Ultimately I ended up learning a lot because it was literally shoved into my brain.
