I would definitely recommend taking French 114C with Professor Loselle. Some of what the other reviewers have said is true--she has an absolutely brilliant and innovative mind when it comes to literary analysis. This can often mean that she is sometimes hard to follow in lecture with regards to her out-of-this-world ideas and understandings. Nonetheless, she was very organized and clear in her curriculum, and did a great job introducing the background and genre of each author that we read. I have to say that I have greatly improved my literary analysis skills as a result of taking this class with her.

The requirements are not too bad either--two papers (the topics of which she gives at the beginning of the class), and two take-home finals which are extremely easy if you pay attention in class. The SECRET to succeeding has to be going to her office hours about the assignments--she is extremely concerned with helping you learn and is more than willing to spend one-on-one time going over any questions you have. Office hours are a definite must to succeeding in this class!

Reading is pretty medium--not too light or heavy. Reading before the class definitely helps so that you don't get lost during class time.

Overall, I would recommend this class to any French major finishing up their 114's. Just make sure to use her office hours often when it comes to the assignments and be careful with your grammar and you're bound to do great.
