Winter 2023 - Like all of his other upper division Vietnamese courses, there is no homework and attendance is pretty much not-mandatory (caveat: he gets really sad when only a couple students show up to lecture). Every lecture, Professor Quyen Di will pick a Vietnamese song or two to teach for the day. He'll play the song on the speakers, then talk about the song lyrics and what he likes about the song. It's a very chill class, and you don't need to take notes or anything. Also like in all of his other upper division Vietnamese classes, we have 1-2 paged essays + videos in place of exams. For every midterm/final, all you need to do is write a 1-2 paged essay about what you've learned in the course (can be about basically anything lol, and it can even be written in English), and then create a 5-10 minute video with a group. The video is just a story inspired by any of the songs he's taught in class. Very easy, very chill. Would highly recommend this class to those who can take it.
