Responsible Conduct of Research in Global Health

Description: (Same as Epidemiology M273.) Lecture, two hours. Requisite: Community Health Sciences 200. Introduction to fundamental principles of public health ethics, current ethical procedures, guidelines, and requirements, and ethical issues facing public health professionals working in developing countries. History of public health issues, unique ethical issues of research in developing countries, analysis of ethical implications of informed consent, responsibility to study community, mechanisms of study approval, role of funders, and role and responsibilities of review boards. S/U or letter grading.
