Gamification in Education: Making Learning Fun

Description: Seminar, one hour. Introduction to different stages of educational game design, including design principles based on theories of learning and motivation, gamification strategy application, game effectiveness evaluation, etc. Design of one's own educational game or presentation of an existing game based on the methods learned. Readings, discussions, and peer reviews are used for proposed projects. Evaluation of benefits and challenges of proposed education games after design process. P/NP grading. Facilitated by Sharon Zhao, with Gregory K. Chung as faculty mentor.
